Dear Advanced Learning Academy Families,

We  are looking forward to introducing faculty and connecting with the Advanced Learning Academy community on Saturday, August 20, 2016, during Meet the Teacher, ALA’s back to school event.  Families are welcome to visit the school anytime between the hours of 9:00-11:00 a.m. Along with meeting the ALA faculty and staff, you will visit several stations to become familiar with various procedures and processes including drop-off and pick-up, communication tools, and volunteer opportunities. Our school nurses will also be present to collect any final immunizations and process requests for medication that needs to be administered at school. A parent/guardian must drop off all medications in the original containers to include pharmacy/prescription label information. Families are welcome to drop offschool supplies on Saturday as well during the event.

Also, 4th and 5th grade students are launching a project that requires newspapers during the second week of the school year.  We will be collecting newspapers and magazines at Meet the Teacher and throughout the first week of school.  Thank you for letting us upcycle your newspapers and magazines in service of our students!

In the meantime, we have several updates to share with you.  First, registration for the SAISD After School Program begins tomorrow; slots are assigned on a first come, first serve basis.  Second, the SAISD Transportation Department has finalized and published the magnet shuttle bus schedules, which are attached to this email.  At this time, only families of kinder students must complete a transportation application in order to ride the bus on the 1st day of school. The kinder form is linked HERE for your convenience.   Third, we have preliminary information to share regarding drop-off and pick-up at our K-3 campus. We  have created a K-3 Map of Arrival & Dismissal for your reference along with general K-3 procedures. More information regarding procedures at our Fox Tech campus is pending.

Finally, the school is seeking a parent volunteer to create a parent directory using information that parents will submit during Meet the Teacher. If you are interested, please contact me at ebieser1@saisd.net.
